Congratulations to all four of you. What you have achieved is truly amazing. I have to say that at 70km, and 0200hrs, you were all surprisingly cheerful and looking very good. This, despite the fact that you must already have been suffering a great deal.

Well done. Now get some sleep.

(See you between CP6 & 7 next year?)

Hi guys,

A couple of things which you may like to consider:

Boiled potatoes with salt (get those carbs in and maintain your electrolyte balance in one - what a winner), Pretzels, Cookies, Salty Crackers, Bananas, Turkey or Chicken or Peanut and Butter Sandwiches, Chicken Noodle or other Soups, GU (or other carbo gels - I think SIS do a good one), chocolate bars, Muesli bars, trail mix (as you will be walking on trails).

In general - eat stuff you like. Try to choose stuff that you can almost constantly nibble all the way around. Your body can only absorb a certain amount of calories at one time, so it's important to keep the furnaces stoked.

You may also want to consider some electrolyte tablets (which dissolve in your water bottles/camelbacks). I use Nuun which seem ok.

Good luck in your final preparations.

Remember, all the hard work has been done now. In the last couple of weeks you can't really improve your fitness - so take it easy and conserve your mental and physical energy for the big day (and a bit). We hope to try to catch you en route.

Hey Tom,

Yeah we are planning for a walking pace of around 4kph I think... Which means 25 hours walking. So a maximum of 5 hours in total stoppage time before the bus comes to carry us away.

Way to go guys - that is a very good pace. Presumably quicker than you will be attempting for the actual event?

What a beautiful story, it had it all: scarfs, blue ducks and a misspelt small horse that looked suspiciously like a flower.

Anyway wish me luck cos this weekend I'm going off on a 40km walk over some welsh hills with more than 1000m of ascent :)
