Four people, one goal, 100 kilometres, 30 hours.
No sleep ’til Brighton is the Trailwalker team of Alex, Dawn, Nick and Viv and this is our Trailwalker blog. Our challenge is to complete a 100 km walk in less than 30 hours without inflicting violence on each other.
This year’s Trailwalker takes place on 19 to 20 July 2008. It starts in Petersfield, follows the South Downs Way and finishes a gruelling 100km later in Brighton. The event is organised by Oxfam and the Queens Gurkha Signals Regiment and with the help of some generous sponsorship, we’re aiming to raise £2000 for them.
Dawn and Viv are seasoned Trailwalkers. We’re hoping that this is third time lucky - we’ve never managed to finish as a team of four. Joining forces with Alex and Nick this time around, we’ve got a top team and are going to give it our best shot. We’ve nominated ourselves for best team spirit so are going to have lots of fun trying.
Trailwalker is a truly amazing experience. It hurts like hell, makes you cry and sometimes even vomit. It’s also one of the most rewarding and life affirming things that you can do.
Please support us if you can and help us raise tonnes of money for a fantastic cause.
Good luck!
Al’s Angels are me and 3 girls from work who are doing it for the first time. 24 hours would be amazing but finishing is the no 1 goal.
I started a blog a couple of weeks ago, its really not very exciting - yours is a much better read. I’m happy to link but I’m not sure how!
I’ll certainly be following your progress from now on.
I’m aware of another blog at http://trailwalker.dixo.net/ btw.
All the best
Alistair
Hi Guys!
Great idea this blog thing - I look forward to reading about your progress…. not least in turning by brother into a “blogger”…and maybe a walker.
The very best of luck in your preparations!
Tom
Some thoughts for your next training session.. and indeed for the event itself. Uttered by some of the greatest military commanders ever to walk the earth….. ish.
“Pain is your friend, it is your ally. Pain reminds you to finish the job and get the hell home. Pain tells you when you’ve been seriously wounded. And you know what the best thing about pain is? It tells you you’re not dead yet.”
“Pain fades… girls dig scars…glory is forever..”
More quotes on pain:
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever” Lance Armstrong, cycling hero.
“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” My Platoon Colour Sgt at Sandhurst.
“We cannot learn without pain.” Aristotle
Not saying that the walk is gonna hurt or nuffing….
