Team Walk 3: (Insert Humorous Route Name Here)

So I’ve been given the honour of choosing the route for Team Walk 3. Amazing really considering driving in London this weekend I managed to get Viv and I totally lost and ended up in front of an unhappy policeman who kindly directed me to the correct direction to drive down a one-way street.
Anyway, I’ve [...]

omg I’m blogging

I never thought the day would come that I would be blogging. It just sounds way to much like d*gging. Anyway, I thought I should pop my head above the parapet. I may not be an avid blogger, but I’m the geek of the group and will hence be reporting on the walking stats… [...]

Sponsorship update

A massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. We’re aiming to raise £2000 and we’ve just reached the £600 mark. But what does this actually mean?
Any way you slice it, Oxfam will put your money to life-changing use. £600 could:

Buy essential medicines for a whole village for 3 years
Buy materials and [...]

Team walk 3 - the secret of my success

Team walk no. 3 is planned for next weekend. We’re hoping that 3 team members and possibly a special guest will be taking part. The route is undecided, but will probably be another Buckinghamshire walk.
For walk number 3, I shall mostly be powered by peanut butter and jam bagels. More on this soon…

Solo walk - it’s all downhill (except on the way back)

As part of my Trailwalker preparation, I’m trying to walk to work as often as possible. It’s a short-ish walk, about 2km each way and I’m enjoying it including the rather steep uphill leg.
It’s a natural stress reliever. The other week, after a trying day at work, I marched home with such vigour that my [...]

Stunning views - shame about the waterproof trousers

Team walk number two was successfully completed. We did the 13kms in 3 hours - that’s about 4.3km per hour including multiple photo call, tree climbing and snack stops.

Disappointingly, the weather held and our waterproof trousers never saw daylight. I’d thoroughly recommend a trip up Coombe Hill - the views are lovely.

Team walk two - one of the great walks of the Chilterns

Our planned route for team walk number two is described (in my Chiltern and Thames Valley Walks book) as “one of the great walks of the Chilterns”. It’s a circular walk starting in Wendover, climbing to the summit of Coombe Hill and passing Chequers - the Prime Minister’s country residence.
It’s about 13km, which is a [...]

Sidewalk Serfer Girl

I started planning for my Friday walk into work on Tuesday.  I’d factored into the plan that I would be working from home on Thursday, so I took my change of clothes into work on Wednesday.  However, it didn’t occur to me until Thursday afternoon that working from home meant that I would have to [...]
